The Buntingford, Royston and Villages Ecumenical Trust is a registered charity that supports Christian ministry into the schools in our area by employing and supporting Christian schools workers. The area is defined as north-east Hertfordshire (UK), specifically the towns of Buntingford and Royston and the surrounding villages. Our aim is to help young people come to an understanding of the Christian faith through open enquiry.

Vision and values

We want to see an effective presentation of the Christian faith in the schools in our area.

We aim to be

  • Christ-centred
  • Bible-based
  • Inclusive
  • Empowering

Activities

The BRAVE Trust was formed in 2006 and has employed one or two part-time schools workers almost continuously since. We have mainly worked with Edwinstree Middle School, and the middle schools in Royston that have now become part of King James Academy.

Our current schools worker, Rachael, runs a Christian club and helps out with Collective Worship in Edwinstree. She organises Prayer Space activities and is planning to launch a Chaplaincy drop-in service in school. She helps with Collective Worship and RE lessons in Hormead First School and she is looking for opportunities to work in King James Academy and the Royston First Schools.

In the past we have organised special musical events in schools and we are hoping to put something on later this year.

We are also looking at running some school transition activities for students moving from First to Middle school or from Middle to Upper school.
